Completed applications are due in the Graduate Studies Office no later than December 15th, for entrance the following September. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible. Applications will not be reviewed until all credentials and official copies of test scores have been received. It is strongly recommended that applicants take the GRE in October of the preceding year, which leaves enough time for Caltech to receive the scores by January.

Undergraduate Admissions

If you are considering applying to Caltech as an undergraduate, you should know that we're a small scholarly community where history and tradition coexist with a passion for innovation, intense intellectual curiosity, and a healthy amount of craziness, where it's relatively easy to find your niche, be known for yourself, and connect with people as colleagues and friends.

The best place to find information is the Caltech Undergraduate Admissions website. There you will find forms and dates, as well as an in-depth look at what life is like as a "Techer."

Electrical Engineering offers specialized concentrations in:

  • Communications and Signal Processing
  • Control
  • Electronic Circuits
  • Microwave and Radio Engineering
  • Optoelectronics
  • Solid-State Electronics

In addition, the Independent Studies Program allows students to design, with faculty advice, a customized course of study to investigate topics not covered by any of the traditional options.

Completed applications are due no later than January 3, for entrance the following September. Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications as early as possible.

Please visit the Undergraduate Admissions website for on-line applications, downloadable forms, important dates, and complete information about the undergraduate admissions process.
